Serendipity brought us here. We had to stay overnight in this city due to inclement weather. We looked for a place to eat and were happy to find our way here.
While my husband was a but disappointed they were put of calamari, his seafood dish had extras of shrimp and mussels.
Service was excellent. Drinks were very good.
If we stop this way again, we will return.
This is a high recommend.

A fabulous dinner was had this evening. The pork belly appetizer was perfectly cooked. I myself had the Pumpkin Ravioli and my dear friend had the scallop entree. We ended our meal with the chocolate chip cookie dessert and an espresso each. We're only in town for the weekend, but may need to revisit this spot before our departure. The wait service was wonderful as well which always contributes to a pleasurable experience. Highly recommend! Perfect date night spot.

Having some Thursday night Phab therapy and some damn good creative cocktails. The mussels were outstanding as usual. Phillip is amazing as is the entire staff. I also met some super human beings at the bar. The Bistro is a shining star in Chambersburg.

Three times we've been here on drives down the highway, and three times we've been blown away by the food, the drinks, and the atmosphere of this little restaurant.
The appetizers were improvements upon classic dishes, and made us excited to see the entrees. The bruschetta for instance, was positively transformed by the tomato jam and cheese choices. The she-crab soup was rich and delicious.
The cocktails followed this pattern of improvements upon classics: I had their winter seasonal margarita and enjoyed the cranberry flavor contrasting with the rosemary. My partner had their Tommy Collins, which was quite sweet, but a great flavor profile.
Dinner. Was. Amazing.
Their scallops with the almond was a delicious taste. But while wonderful, it didn't hold a candle to the taste of the pan seared filet mignon. Everything from how perfectly it was cooked, to the mixing of gravy and bearnaise and white chocolate mashed potatoes made our jaws drop.
Absolutely try this place out

We had the Valentine's Day menu and everything was 5 star plus 1! Amy, our server, was very attentive. A high five to all the servers as they climb old staiwell many times in one night🙂
The night was busy, there are small separate rooms so conversation is easy any nice background music.
This is fine dining so it will not be average prices, but they do not disappoint in the kitchen! Being we had a set menu, there was a set price of $75, normal menu runs $30-$40.
My only complaint, the chairs are not most comfortable especially after several hours of playing pickleball.
My recommendation: The Bistro 71 is a must visit!

We came here for our anniversary dinner tonight and had an absolutely fabulous time. Our food and drinks were delicious, our server Alex K? (if I remember correctly 😅) was so friendly and helpful (he also gave killer recommendations!), everything was 10/10! We will definitely be back in the future!

Bistro 71 is one of those places that just gets it right across the board. The drinks are next level—creative, well-balanced, and clearly crafted by someone who knows what they’re doing. It’s not just a bar menu, it’s an experience on its own.
The food is on another level too. You can tell right away you’re getting true chef-driven meals—thoughtful, high-quality, and plated with intention. Every dish feels like it belongs in a much bigger city.
What really ties it all together is the atmosphere. It has that upscale, polished feel, but without any of the pretentiousness you sometimes get at higher-end spots. Comfortable, welcoming, and just a great place to settle in and enjoy a night out.
If you’re looking for a place that delivers high-end quality without the attitude, Bistro 71 absolutely delivers.

We were passing through trying to go north without going on I-95 and we’re fortunate enough to find Bistro 71. It was everything you could want Phillip was on the bar and took such great care of us, and he made us laugh. When we were seated next to a historic map of the city he “walked” us through it as it had been years ago. Clearly he loves where he is.
The food and service were both perfect.
He told us about Jim’s Market and we went first thing as recommended. It was incredible. We watched pretzels being made as well as donuts and all kinds of food. We had the pretzel egg sandwiches as recommended and they were great.
Go see Phillip, tell him Paul and Sherrie said hi and enjoy a great meal.
